‘Understanding and Creating Web Novels’ is a subject that learns various characteristics and narrative techniques of web novels and challenges basic creation. This lectures are divided into three parts, ① theory and history, ② reading and discussing novels, and ③ creating and grouping activities, for 4 weeks each. It deals with the theory and practice of historical and cultural changes from the PC communication period to the present, examining the industrial ecosystem and unique publishing relationship centered on the platform, genre characteristics and optimized sentence style, narrative development method, and directing characters and viewpoints. The novels to be read and discussed are selected as topics that sharply reflect the psychology of the contemporary public and have historical value for research in this field. Conversations with writers in the form of special lectures are also promoted. Reflecting the above educational activities, students write a web novel creation plan or pilot episode (3 to 4 A4 pages). Afterwards, through group activities, opinions are heard, and the final version is submitted. | |||||||||

Recently, mystery narratives have been gaining big attention in TV/OTT dramas and movies. They are expanding their scope by mixing with various genres such as police/crime, romance, history dramas and science fiction. The popularity of mystery narratives depends not only on the capabilities of star writers or fun of entertainment, but also on the desires and memories of comtemporary audiences, their awareness of history, their attitude toward the world, and their awareness of law and illegality. In this course, we study the concept and history of mystery narratives as a representative genre of K-contents, and analyze related dramas and films from a social, cultural, and gender perspective. This course will enable students to explore the meaning and definition of mystery narratives and critically examine various popular contents. The course will consist of lectures by the instructor and student presentations and discussions. Students analyze mystery narratives they are interested in and present the results. | |||||||||

Media technologies have a profound impact on the way we understand and experience our bodies. This course aims to understand and analyse the relationship between media and technology and 'other' bodies. By "other" bodies I mean people with various identities such as illness, disability, LGBTQ, people of colour, etc. who are considered abnormal by society and whose existence is denied. In this course, students will learn about the categories and theories of minority media and cultural studies and analyse how different bodies are represented in the media and how they use media and technology to construct their lives. Based on this learning, students will write critical texts and engage in discussions. Through this course, students will develop the ability to critically interpret minority and media issues in society and rediscover the existence of difference beyond all hierarchies and norms of normality. | |||||||||
