1. Techno-environmental English studies

This project conducts research and educational activities on the environment and culture of English-speaking and Asian regions. It aims to cultivate in students the ability to reflect on the fundamental relationship between humans and the environment; the social value of industrial and scientific technology; and the capacity to address the current environmental crisis through the interaction between humans, the environment, and industry/technology. The goal is to contribute to the international sharing and dissemination of research results in the field of techno-environmental English studies.

 

2. Biomedical English studies of healing

This project conducts research and education activities that integrate English studies with medicine, medical literature, and psychoanalysis. Its goal is to cultivate the basic values of life and to enhance insight into political, social-cultural, and medical issues related to disaster, disease, and treatment. The aim is to develop human resources who possess the ability to apply the healing properties of language and literature to education and treatment, and to contribute to the international sharing and dissemination of research results in the field of biomedical English studies of healing.

 

3. Human language and cognition in the era of AI

Utilizing advanced technologies such as AI and brain imaging, this project scientifically analyzes the process of human language cognition. It conducts theoretical and scientific research on English as a global common language in the hyper-connected society. The project aims to cultivate individual talent capable of creating new values by integrating research on language and cognition of humans in the AI era with education, linguistics, and cultural industries. The goal is to contribute to the international sharing and dissemination of research results in the field of human language and cognition in the AI era.

 

4. Popular Humanities and Social Contribution

This project provides new knowledge pertaining to the relationship between humans, the environment, and science and technology in the era of AI as well as how these elements can coexist. It proposes visions and practical plans for a sustainable future society and contributes to social change through popularization of this new knowledge. The project aims to popularize specialized knowledge of Interaction English Studies by transforming it into a form that is easily understood and appealing to non-specialists through various online platforms, such as YouTube and podcasts. It seeks to put this knowledge into practice via different kinds of academia–industry collaboration programs.
