The Department of English Language & Literature at Sungkyunkwan University underwent restructuring in January 2023, rebranding from the “Institute of British and American Culture” to the “Institute of Interaction English Studies” (IIES). This research center aims to bring a fresh perspective to traditional English Studies by approaching it in an innovative way, with a conceptual focus on the ‘interaction between humans, the environment, and technology’ in the era of advanced science and technology, and to contribute to the advancement of research and education in “Interaction English Studies.”
To accomplish this goal, the research center undertakes the following initiatives:
1. Research and publication in the field of Interaction English Studies;
2. Education and academic activities, such as academic conferences, forums, and workshops, as well as social contribution projects in related fields;
3. Domestic and international education and academic exchange initiatives;
