  Kakao, in partnership with OpenAI, has launched “ChatGPT for Kakao,” drawing attention with a discounted voucher for the ChatGPT Pro service. The company has also introduced a “1+1” promotion that offers two months of access for the price of one month of ChatGPT Plus.

  ChatGPT Pro typically costs $200 per month (about 300,000 won). However, the new voucher is priced at 29,000 won—roughly one-tenth of the usual fee—sparking strong interest among users. According to Kakao, the voucher provides the same features as the existing Pro paid plan, enabling expert-level tasks such as complex data analysis and advanced code generation and verification.

  The voucher is available for purchase through the “Gift” tab in KakaoTalk. Once registered, users can access ChatGPT on both the web and mobile app versions. Existing paid subscribers (Plus/Pro) can register the voucher only after fully cancelling their current subscription.

  Users are advised to note the validity period. The voucher remains valid for up to 93 days, and any unregistered voucher will expire automatically once the period ends. Extensions are not available.

  Questions have also been raised over privacy and data training. By default, data usage and model training settings are enabled for free, Plus, and Pro accounts. Kakao said that when users log in by linking their ChatGPT account, the existing ChatGPT settings are applied as is. Those who do not want their data used must disable the setting directly in the ChatGPT web or app. Users who access the service without logging in must manually turn off the “Improve the model for everyone” option in the settings.
