논문제목 : The Impact of the People’s Livelihood Recovery Coupon on Pricing

This study examines the impact of the People’s Livelihood Recovery Coupon program on the pricing strategies of participating stores, using gas station price data. Our analysis shows that, following the coupon issuance, coupon-accepting gas stations experienced a relative price decrease compared with non-accepting stations. The event study results indicate that, after the policy took effect, participating stations reduced their prices by approximately 10–15 KRW relative to the control group. This price reduction persisted for about four weeks, until the coupon exhaustion rate increased, after which the effect dissipated. We interpret this phenomenon as arising from the program’s exogenous influence on consumers’ search order, which elevated previously non-prominent stations to prominent positions. This shift in prominence, in turn, induced firms to lower their prices compared with the pre-policy period.
