It was a special day for Sungkyunkwan University's SKK GSB Full-Time students to learn about wind farms in Korea.
They gained insights into the wind energy industry and discovered more about the largest wind farm in Korea.
Wind speed is a crucial factor in establishing a wind farm. In Korea, wind farms are typically located on mountaintops. When wind encounters a mountain, it accelerates due to the topographic effect.
The largest wind farm in Korea is the Gangwon Wind Farm, which was established in 2001. It produces 226 GWh of electricity annually, supplying power to more than 20,000 households per year. The farm's plan is to produce electric power for more than 40,000 households by completing repowering, which involves replacing all the wind turbine generators to enhance efficiency.
