Interview with Nikki about Summer Internship
Internships are very popular with students who need to gain valuable work or research experience. An intern can work part-time or full time at a company for a specified period.
Today, SKK GSB PR committee was very delighted to invite Nikki to share her experience in Korea and obtain life lesson including how to find a summer internship in Korea. We will find out how the internship benefits her.
Nikki: Hi, my name is Nikki from India. I have been living in Korea since 2019. Before joining SKK GSB, I was working as a Business Development Manager at a startup in India. While working, I realized that I needed a more specific set of skills like Management, Negotiation and Digital Marketing to attain a well-established and stable position in my career. Since my academic background was Physics, switching into an entirely different field like a Full-time MBA was a considerable investment for me in terms of time and money.
We heard that you received a great internship through Hire diversity. What benefit will the internship bring to you and how it affect your career plan?
Nikki: Yes, I found the internship job description. at Hire diversity and I discussed with Mr. Sim about job description because luckily that profile was matching with my CV. He helped me a lot in finalizing the working contract and in obtaining immigration permission.
Now, I am handling the Marketing area for the Indian community in Korea. Prof. Eric’s Marketing simulation helped me a lot in understanding the working process in the Marketing department. Currently, I am handling the Marketing through Facebook, Google Ads, Instagram Ads, and YouTube Ads. I create promotional Ads on these channels.
The internship helps me to gain valuable work experience, develop a network with professionals, refine my skills, and in addition, receive financial compensation. Through this internship, I got an opportunity to travel locally to different places in Korea like Suwon, Gimhae, every weekend. I strongly feel that having hands-on experience will positively affect my career after MBA graduation.
What did you learn from SKK GSB? What do you want to do after graduation?
Nikki: SKK GSB turns out to be a magical platform for me. I am studying with students from11 different nationalities for group projects and students who have long experience in big MNC’s. I learned time management skills, as we must finish assignments and group projects within tight deadlines. Apart from that, negotiations, communications, and active participation skills improved my personality a lot. In terms of career guidelines, the SKK GSB program is very well defined and helps you to gain confidence before entering working life in a company. Prof. Raunaq and others are always available to listen and guide us through every confusing phase.
After graduating from SKK GSB, I want to work on combining the profile of Data Analytics and Digital Marketing. Together with the wonderful experience in Korea, it also helps me to develop my long-term Career plan in the U.S.A or Australia. I believe I would acquire most of the required skills of my dream job before graduating, as the SKK GSB course work is highly oriented towards the latest Job requirements.
