This course is an interdisciplinary program combining more than 15 divisions in the Department of Confucian Studies and Eastern Philosophy, College of Liberal Arts and College of Social Science, as well as majors related to Arts, with a vision of cultivating professional artists based on in-depth knowledge and theory of the arts as a whole.
We aim to :
train interdisciplinary and creative people who are competitive in both academic and practical ways in the field of art
to contribute to the advancement of arts and culture by interdisciplinary research and to formulate a theory of the field of arts
build a diversified form of artistic expression based on interdisciplinary experimentalism
to cultivate practical competitiveness by academic study and by finding a new methodology for the actual creation of artistic expression.
Graduates are working as managers in institutions related to arts such as; theatres, galleries, museums, exports, arts organizations, cultural arts festivals and also creative artists, arts researchers, arts industry professionals, and critics across the whole arts spectrum.

(2) Entry Requirements (Graduate)
Entrance qualification for this course is the same as the general graduate school. No written examinations are required for master's and doctorate courses, but students are selected based on the scores of undergraduate and graduate courses, research plans, oral examination and interviews. Selection is classified as either special selection or general selection. The former is based on career and experience, the latter is on academic ability.
All applicants are required to submit an one page research plan in Korean and English before the interview. Master students must earn more than 24 credits and pass an English test, all-round test and also publish 1 more paper in an academic journal registered or candidate registered in the National Research Foundation of Korea, before finishing the third semester. Doctoral students must earn more than 33 credits (completion credits; 36 credits) and pass the English test, all-round test, and also publish 2 more papers in academic journals registered or candidate registered in the National Research Foundation of Korea, before finishing the third semester.
The department has been selected as progressive institute for the BK21+ Da Vinci Creative Talent Cultivation Project, which is one of the biggest cultural projects in Korea. It aims to expand the area of fusion arts in the changing creation environment, and to a create fusion art ecosystem. It plans to identify and research new genres suitable for changing environments, to reinforce research competence in the area of fusion art, and to cultivate creative talents. It further aims to nurture the global leadership of fusion talent and to obtain culture and industry competitiveness complying with world standards. It presents new visions of art by constructing virtuous circles of fusion study and fusion works, and to obtain independent education competence with stage-by-stage research in the area of the arts.
