Welcome to Sungkyunkwan University's (SKKU)

College of Biotechnology & Bioengineering

Welcome to the College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU)

The College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering was established with the vision that Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) will lead the forefront in education and research in the fields of Life Science, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering and Food Biotechnology.

As a leading biotechnology group in major research universities, our mission is to effectively integrate learning, discovery and engagement. We also reinforce education-industry ties to enhance research efficiency and to maximize the proficiency of adding industrial value to research products. Through this interdisciplinary research and academic cooperation, we have demonstrated our promising future.

In addition to offering high quality undergraduate education, our college offers excellent graduate programs at the MS and Ph.D levels. Graduates from our advanced degree programs are presidents of corporations, excellent researchers in industries, bureaucrats in related fields and professors. Like our undergraduate students, our graduate students have the opportunity to learn from the best faculty in the discipline. Beyond that, graduate students participate in cutting edge research in the hopes of solving some of today’s most pressing problems. We know that the best learning is experiential, and leads to a clear understanding of how discoveries are made, how science is conducted, and how ideas are communicated.

The best learning is facilitated by faculty who are active in research and who can engage students in the excitement of biotechnology and bioengineering. The best learning results are alumni who are well-prepared to successfully pursue their chosen carriers. Undergraduate students in our college are all welcomed to join this research-oriented educational program, too. In order to support our students actively performing their research, we are currently running the Brain Korea 21 program which is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Our faculty, staff and students are engaged with the communities of science and education, the worlds of industry and business, and our alumni and friends. To each individual who joins us, we promise opportunities to experience the excitement of biotechnology. We encourage you to become a part of our team-as a student, alumnus, corporate partner, scientific collaborator, or a member of our faculty and staff.

Join us on our journey of learning, discovery and commitment, and enjoy the excitement of biotechnology and bioengineering.
