On May 9 (Thursday), the first open-air theater cultural festival "Theonjin-Romantic" was held at the open-air theater of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus. The first open-air theater cultural festival, hosted by the 43rd Club Association "Akdong," was attended by the on-campus clubs "Blue" and "Hegemony." The business school band "Blue," which had the slogan of Sungkyunkwan University's best rock band, played as the first performance team. It was followed by a rock band called "Hegemony" from the College of Social Sciences, which put forward a romantic youth band. Promotional items were distributed to Sungkyunkwan University students, Instagram events were also prepared, and various events including performances were held, and they had time to read witty stories during the preparation time for the performance.
| Interview with the president of the 43rd Club Federation 'Akdong'
Q1. Please introduce yourself briefly.
My name is Kwon Jun-eon, president of the 43rd Club Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences Campus. I served as the chairman of the volunteer club, Ho-hoe, for two years until last year, and I am a business administration student in the 19th grade.
Q2. Some students may not know what the club association does. Please introduce the club association's bad behavior.
Most basically, it is a place that manages the central club located in the student center and supports the event. As a big event, we are holding a club promotion booth at the beginning of the semester and a club night. However, starting this year, we are trying to hold many events where various clubs can participate in accordance with the slogan of the 43rd Club Federation, "Romantic Frontline, Central Club – Center of Student Culture, and Club Federation."
Q3. What led you to plan the open-air theater cultural festival, Tianjin Romance?
When I saw that Daedongje, the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, was set for the end of May, I found out that there was no event to do in May. So, it was an idea that came out after vaguely thinking, 'What should I do?' The open-air theater was not used as an official venue for events, but it was first used as a venue for club performances during this year's promotional booth, but the response was not bad, so I decided to use this place to hold the event.
Q4. What did you pay most attention to while preparing for the event and what were you satisfied with?
I paid most attention to recruiting. I went around the student center and asked for performances, and I contacted people I knew. Second, I thought that the performance team should enjoy the performance. Since it's not for paying money to sing at an event, my goal was to create a fun event for the performance team and to do everything they wanted to do. Third, it was promotion. Through the promotion, we tried to make a more enjoyable performance by making people come to the venue.
Q5. What was the part that you were satisfied with while preparing for the event?
We had to do the event with limited resources. So the amplifiers were all different in size, and the banners were torn. It was nice to see the performance in one hall and the crowd in the hall. It was nice to see the performers enjoying themselves.
Q6. Lastly, please say something to your classmates at Sungkyunkwan University.
Many people may not have known what the club association is doing externally, but I would like to say that it will be a club association that will create many events such as Tianjin Romantic in the future and give you pleasant memories different from other student associations. When we hold events that show something like Tianjin Romantic, there are inevitably many events focused on performance clubs, and we plan to make more events where other clubs can show their results except for performance clubs.
| Interview with a member of the business school band club 'Paran'
Q1. Please briefly introduce yourself and introduce the club 'Paran'.
Hello, I'm Kim Min-gyu, a band member of the 23rd business school in the Department of Imaging, and I'm in charge of drum sessions. Paran is a band club belonging to the business school that started in 1999. These days, not only business schools but also art colleges, social science colleges, and humanities colleges gather and try various kinds of music.
Q2. Please introduce the song you played in today's performance.
Today, I performed a total of three songs, Na Sang-hyun's romantic song, Oasis's Don't Look Back in Angel, and Jaurim's Korean classic rock music, 25.
Q3. How did you apply for the open-air theater cultural festival, Tianjin Romance?
Our club is a club that tries to take as many opportunities as possible. So we prepared for the performance. Also, there is a team called "Nope" within the blue. This team has performed together a lot in the blue, and because of the harmony, we are going to perform with freshmen in 24th grade.
Q4. Please tell us how you feel about participating in the innocent romance.
It was my first time to perform at an open-air theater. It was a bit of a poor facility, but it was a nice weather with cool winds and beautiful sunshine, so I think I played well in a romantic way. It was a fun performance.
