A disaster happens in three dimensional space. Thus, it is necessary to understand and analyze the time and space in which the disaster occurs to study disaster management. Spatial information analysis room provide spatial information collection devices and analysis tools needed in all processes of disaster management such as disaster prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
3) Analyzing/Processing Software
Analyzing disasters requires sophisticated algorithms and expensive software. We have various expensive software such as ArcGIS, FLO2D for analyzing disasters. Our students could use this software to perform successful research.
4) Other Analysis Equipment
We have also other analysis equipment. The kinds of the equipment are recognized by national institutions and facilities such as the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Ministry of Public Safety and Security (NPSS).
4. Facilities, Resources and Funding

Today, climate change caused by global warming has caused many forms of disasters from multi-disasters to various social disasters, leading an enormous loss of life and property. In order to prepare for various disasters, the world is striving to nurture excellent manpower in disaster management field; therefore Korea has paid attention and put in great effort to train manpower in the disaster management field.
Since 2011, National Emergency Management Agency(current; the Ministry of Public Safety and Security) created a disaster prevention office and gradually expanded the national security. The demand for professionals in the disaster management field is estimated to be about 11,500 but, it is true that supply is significantly lacking.
As a result, it was agreed to impose preferential treatment for the new recruitment of the disaster management Korean officers according to the guidance provided by the National Emergency Management Agency(current; the Ministry of Public Safety and Security); through the agreement between the President of Sungkyunkwan University and the head of the Ministry of Public Safety and Security(NPSS).
Furthermore, our program planned and proceeded with various educational and technical co-operations with domestic and foreign educational institutions, and central and local governments based on excellent faculty and research ability. Through this effort, we are striving to strengthen research capabilities of participating professors and graduate students.
