Global Business Administration operated the 2022 Winter Global Camp in Singapore from February 6th to 10th, 2023, spanning 4 nights and 5 days with a total of 25 participants (20 students, 4 faculty members, and 1 staff member).
The Global Camp is a program aimed at enhancing students' global competencies through experiences in global business environments and providing opportunities for cultural and academic exchange with international university students. The program had been suspended since 2019 due to COVID-19 but resumed and was successfully conducted in the academic year 2022.
During this period, the delegation from the Department of Global Business Administration visited major universities and esteemed corporations. First, on Tuesday the 7th, they visited Singapore Management University (SMU), where they attended a lecture by renowned investment expert Jim Rogers, learning about the mindset necessary for an 'investor.' They also attended a class by Professor Mark Chong from the Business School, which enhanced their understanding of how various brands achieve industry dominance through storytelling. The final agenda at SMU was a networking session with SMU students, during which they could perceive the significant influence of the Korean wave (Hallyu) and engage in candid conversations about their academic and career development concerns.
On Thursday the 9th, they visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) and attended a lecture by Professor Seong-Yong Um titled "Digital Innovation and Business Analytics in Singapore" providing them with an opportunity to learn about the importance of data collection, management, and application skills as business students.
they also explored esteemed companies to aid in their career development. At SGX, they learned about the role of the stock exchange and the advantages of developing a career abroad. During their visit to BlackRock, they gained insights into the future of the ESG sector and the importance of G-governance. At Johnson & Johnson, they engaged in case studies, allowing them to analyze data and derive solutions using diverse background knowledge, which highlighted the importance of logical and strategic value judgment.
Global Business Administration plans to continue running this program in the future to further enhance students' global competencies.
