Greetings.
The Graduate School of Korean Linguistic and Literature at Sungkyunkwan University, in search of new
research and teaching approaches, founded the Education and Research Group for the BK21 Project with a focus on
“Innovation, Commons, and Justice” in November of 2020.We aim to take the lead in expanding the global
recognition for Korean Linguistic and literature.
Evidently, universities and academia are faced with a serious
crisis. However, even in the face of difficulties, the discipline of Korean Linguistic and literature maintains its
leadership and growth momentum in the field of humanities in Korea. We will also have more opportunities for further
growth and development in the future.
Hopefully, this Graduate School, together with the Education and Research
Group, will be a center for fostering the future generation of researchers who can chart the future course of Korean
Linguistic and literature with their creative ideas and exceptional skills.
We are planning not only to strengthen the basis of disciplines, such as Korean linguistics, classical literature,
and modern literature but also to broaden the scope of our work to digital humanities, cultural studies, and Korean
language education. Moreover, we will strive to bring innovation to education and research, to share knowledge and
information, and to eventually invigorate the academic ecosystem by establishing and developing open platforms for
research, open classes, and public institutes for humanities.
We are confident that the Graduate School of Korean
Linguistic and Literature at Sungkyunkwan University, along with the Education and Research Group of Korean Linguistic
and Literature for Innovation, Commons, and Justice, will grow as a new international hub for the ever-growing field
of Korean Linguistic and literature if we succeed in giving wider publicity to the value of humanities and enhancing
the position of Korean Linguistic and literature.
We look forward to continuing interest and support from Korean experts at home and abroad and the future generation
of researchers.
Thank you.
