[Research Interest]

I am mainly interested in the question of how our language and thought relate us to various objects. Much of my research has dealt with questions about names, references, and thoughts: the conditions for singular thought, predicativism about names, and the contingent a priori. Currently, I am working on topics related to fictional names and entities such as "Spider-Man" and Spider-Man. Journal Articles • "Fictional Creationism and Negative Existentials" (forthcoming) The Canadian Journal of Philosophy • "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Table" (2023) Philosophies (Special Issue on Fiction and Metaphysics) • "Referential Intentions and Ordinary Names in Fiction" (2023) Philosophical Studies 180: 1059-1079. • "Singular Thoughts, Singular Attitude Reports, and Acquaintance" (2023) Analytic Philosophy 64: 126-142. • "Authorial Intention, Readers' Creation, and Reference Shift" (2022) The Philosophical Quarterly 72: 381-401.
