China is one of the world's oldest civilizations with nearly 5,000 years of continuous history. Through this long-standing history, the Chinese people have stacked their unique and splendid cultural layers on their land. Today their cultural background and economic power strongly influences our lives. Therefore, understanding China's traditions and unique cultural background is the first step to crossing the threshold of studying the enormous Chinese civilization.

The Department of Chinese Language and Literature aims to educate students to become experts on China, who are able to understand Chinese politics, economy, public administration and society. The curriculum of the department covers modern and ancient Chinese language. This gives students a comprehensive understanding of the humanities. Students also get an in-depth understanding about the lives and spirits of the Chinese people, their culture and society.
