Since its establishment in 1946, the English Department has been one of the core departments of SKKU. Our department has 14 internationally reknowned faculty members.
Our department has grown with the efforts of all faculty members which include: Hong Dauksuhn , Kang Yongsoon, Kim Dongwook, Kim Ilyeong, Kim Wonchung, Lee Haemoon, Kim Yoo, Son Hyesook, Lee Hanjung, Simon C. Estok, Yujong Park, Shawn, D. Normandin, Yeonsik Jung, and Jungmee Lee.
The English Department is divided into two channels with a focus on Literature and Linguistics. The English Literature program offers various courses in English poetry, fiction, drama, literary theory, etc. and also looks into each subject with particular time periods in focus. The Linguistic program provides courses in phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, conversatin analysis, as well as language acquisition and English education.
Through such diversity in course material, we are prepared to provide substantial understanding in English language as well as literature and culture.
