On March 1, 2019, our department was officially renamed the Department of Media and Communication to expand its academic vision in response to the evolving demands of the era.
The Department of Media and Communication at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) conducts comprehensive research on communication phenomena across society, delving into the influence of mass media, interpersonal and organizational communication, and the interaction between media technology and humans. By harmonizing theoretical foundations with practical applications, the department focuses on the following academic areas:
• Communication in the Digital Age: Strengthening interdisciplinary and innovative fields such as social media, smart media, telecommunications, and gaming.
• Human-AI Interaction: Understanding and practicing the convergence of AI-based communication technologies and human interactions.
• Interpersonal and Organizational Communication: Exploring human relationships and interactions within and between organizations.
• Mass Communication: Studying mass media phenomena, including newspapers, broadcasting, film, publishing, advertising, PR, and the internet.
