BK21 Program Overview
The BK21 program aims to cultivate “world-class global cultural communicators” who contribute to national policy, industrial demand, workforce development, and university specialization. By strengthening the global brand of Korean culture (Hallyu) and training experts in digital media and cultural content, the program ultimately seeks to establish new engines for national growth.
Culture is not merely an area of enjoyment or experience; it permeates all aspects of daily life and is closely interconnected with economic, social, and political domains.
Moreover, culture is deeply linked to industry and plays a critical role as a driving force for the growth of nations and societies. In response to these demands, the GCC (Global Cultural Communicator) program focuses on cultivating talent capable of active engagement in the cultural sector.
To achieve this goal, the program is organized into three core teams:
Cultural Content Production and Planning (CCPP)
Digital Media and Culture (DMC)
Cultural Marketing Communication (CMC)
The CCPP team focuses on developing expertise in creating and planning the content and formats of cultural products.
The DMC team examines the media environments that shape the supply and demand of new cultural products.
The CMC team develops expertise in distributing and promoting these cultural products both domestically and internationally.
Through the activities of the Global Cultural Communicator program, graduates acquire professional competencies that meet global standards and pursue careers in cultural content production, planning, and distribution.
