Professor Chung Ka Young's research team (first author Dr. course Park Ji Young, M.S. course Yun Min Woo) announced that they have identified the mechanism how Arrestin scaffolds ERK signaling proteins through joint research with Professor Jinpeng Sun of Shandong University. Arrestin is known to promote ERK signaling as a major sub-signaling protein of the G protein-coupled receptor. However, the exact mechanism was unknown. Therefore, the research team studied the structural principle that Arrestin and ERK signaling proteins combine to reveal the principle that Arrestin promotes ERK signaling.
The research was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning Mid-career Research Grant and the Leading Research Center (MRC), and was published in the September issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA (IF 11.205).
