Pharmacogenetics is the branch of pharmacology which deals with the influence of genetic variation on drug response in patients by correlating gene expression or single-nucleotide polymorphisms with a drug's efficacy or toxicity. By doing so, pharmacogenomics aims to develop rational means to optimise drug therapy, with respect to the patients' genotype, to ensure maximum efficacy with minimal adverse effects. Such approaches promise the advent of "personalized medicine"; in which drugs and drug combinations are optimized for each individual's unique genetic makeup.

This course cultivates and supports research partnerships between our undergraduates and faculty. It offers the chance to work on cutting edge research—whether you join established research projects or pursue your own ideas. Undergraduates participate in each phase of standard research activity: developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting research, analyzing data and presenting research results in oral and written form. Projects can last for an entire semester, and many continue for a year or more. SKKU students use their CGS(Creative Group Study) experiences to become familiar with the faculty, learn about potential majors, and investigate areas of interest. They gain practical skills and knowledge they eventually apply to careers after graduation or as graduate students.

The class will deal with comparative analysis of systems related to pharmaceuticals, pharmacists, and pharmacies. It will cover regulatory enforcement jurisdiction, organization, structure, and procedures to ensure access, quality and cost-effective use of drugs.

The course objectives are to provide the students with basic knowledge of trends, and issues on pharmaceutical system from drug development to drug use. It also deals with the analysis of macro-factors such as political, economic, social and technological changes on global and local pharmaceutical situations.

The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the public policy concept, and process in order to apply them to the pharmaceutical policy. We will examine the socio-historical backgrounds of pharmaceutical policy, and analyze them at both theoretical and practical levels. Also we will develop a desirable alternative for the debatable issues.
SAHP015 Pharmaco Epidemiology 2 4 Major Master 1-5 - No
The purpose of this course is understanding for the necessity, definition and methodology of pharmacoepidemiology. This course covered the basic(cohort study and case-control study) and advanced(case-crossover analysis, self-controlled case series analysis) epidemiological approach, bias including immortal time bias, time-lag bias and protopathic bias). This course provides the lecture and pracrtice including a literature review and a protocol development.
