The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute of this school (Head: Professor Kim Dong-min) was selected as the "2024 Korean Academy of Arts and Arts Center Academic Research Service" (Research Director: Jeong Byeong-seop, Director of Research) promoted by the Korea Institute for the Promotion of Confucian Culture.

In order to promote and inherit Korean Confucian culture, it is necessary to translate the core Korean pre-study literature. Running from April 2024 to December 2024, the "2024 Korean Pre-study Center's Korean Academic Research Service" is a project to "discover the popularization and modern value of Korean pre-study materials" and "accumulate data on the archive of Korean studies and expand the base of Korean studies."

"Wooam Teacher's Anthology (尤菴 集) Volume 172"
"The 問答 of Salute"

In this project, the original text of "問答 尤菴" (Volumes 172-177), written by Wooam Song Si-yeol (1607-1689), a key figure in the history of Joseon's history in the 17th century, is inputted, marked, proofed, translated, and released. Through this national service project, "Salute Question and Answer" will be introduced in Korean for the first time.


"Salute Question and Answer" is an important material for understanding the 17th-century liturgical debate and social and ideological aspects of the time, with Song Si-yeol asking questions about writers such as Min 閔泰 (1640-1692), Hyun Yi-gyu (1641-1706). It is also called "Salute 疑" and consists of 13 volumes of "Salute," which asked the meaning of the scriptures, and 11 volumes of "疑," which asked the meaning of the scriptures. "Salute," the subject of this project, follows the system of "Garye," "序," "冠," "Congratulations," "昏," "喪," "Congratulations," "恤," "Congratulations," "儀," "Congratulations," "玄以規," and "national 嫡庶," and based on "Congratulations," it broadly cites examples of China and Korea as well as scriptures such as "Letship" and "班祔." In particular, the questions in "Tongrye" reflect the question of what to do if the posthumous affairs are cut off, the problem of the 班祔 (반), the reality that there was no economic margin, and the distinction between men and women or women (嫡庶) reflect one aspect of social change in the 17th century.

The Korean translation of this book is essential to the Korean translation ability of classical literature and the collaboration of experts familiar with various examples, predictions, and Neo-Confucianism. Through the selection of this project, the research and Korean language capabilities of the Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute at the University of Confucianism were recognized externally.


The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute aims to discover the socio-cultural background, popularization, and modern value of Korean arts and arts materials at that time through the first Korean translation of "Salye Q&A", and to provide data that can grasp not only the systematic view of Song Si-yeol's prediction, but also the debate about art at that time as a whole. Furthermore, the top experts in the field, the Kukyeokjin, intend to discover the value of this book through a sense of mission and sincere business performance, and further expand the base of Korean arts and arts research. In addition, this project is expected to serve as an opportunity for Confucian universities to improve their ability to authenticate and translate Korean Confucian literature. The completed Korean translation will be a public service through the pre-study archive of the Korea Confucian Culture Promotion Agency in the future, and will be published in a book.


The institute has been carrying out the Cultural Heritage Administration's Important Record Heritage Korean Project since 2018 to enhance the public's understanding of traditional culture and lay the foundation for the development of traditional culture-based contents and academic development by translating Korean important record heritage recorded in Chinese characters among state-designated cultural properties. Currently, professors and doctoral-level emerging researchers and graduate students from international universities belong to each department and are actively engaged in research activities.
