Installation of VR Sports Zone for Sports Interaction Education and Research
Golf Zone, donation of screen golf system to foster future talent and assist in research on VR/AR
November 27 (Wed.) Conducting a work agreement ceremony at Sports VR Zone in Suseonggwan
The Graduate School of Sports Interaction Science (SIS below) of the College of Sport Science installed VR Sports Zone based on support for SIS project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, support from SKKU, and donation of the screen golf system of the Golf Zone. In addition, our university signed an industry-academic cooperation with Golf Zone (CEO Park Ki-won) at Sports VR Zone (Suseonggwan, the Natural Sciences Campus) in order to foster future IT talent, and received the Golf Zone's screen golf system.
President Shin Dong-ryeol, CEO Park Ki-won of Golf Zone, dean of the College of Sport Science Jang Kyung-ro, dean of SIS Kim Tae-hee, professors of the College of Sport Science, and pro-golfer In Joo-yeon from our university attended the ceremony.
The main content of the agreement is that our university's College of Sport Science and Golf Zone will actively utilize and cooperate with each other's infrastructure and resources to develop the Korean sports industry in the future and to enhance the scientific quality and creativity of our faculty and students.
In addition, Golf Zone will conduct practical training on VR/AR to expand opportunities for fostering sports professionals and exchange human resources. The donated Golf Zone's screen golf system will be used for VR/AR-related classes in SIS and liberalized golf classes. It is also expected to be actively used for research activities by professors of SIS.
"Golf zone's screen golf system allows us to provide students with a higher level of classroom environment. In the future, we expect to create synergy in various areas through industry-academic cooperation between the Golf Zone and SKKU's College of Sport Science," President Shin Dong-ryeol said.
"We have contributed to this agreement to foster young talent that will lead the nation`s future," said Park Ki-won, CEO of Golf Zone. "Through the golf platform, we will make efforts to show off various future technologies, and we will fulfill our corporate social responsibilities through continued social contribution activities in the future," he added.
