The Research Institute of Physical Fitness and Sport Science

The College of Sport Science is home to the Sport-ICT Research Center, which is supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) through the Core Research Center Project, funded by the Ministry of Education.

The purpose of our Sport-ICT research center is to develop novel knowledge frameworks for research into new emerging areas of sport science that is coupled with ICT (Information and Communication Technology), highlighted as a key technology in the 21st century. The Sport-ICT research center will offer a unique opportunity to create new sport-related markets based on ICT technologies, as well as to develop novel academic and research areas by converging sport science with new technologies, such as ICT technology.

The Sungkyunkwan University Sport-ICT Research Center is leading the research fields such as sport-ICT field linked to domestic and overseas sport science and ICT technology based on excellent researchers and is evaluated as the best sport related university research center in Korea by various evaluation institutions. In particular, the center has been selected as a university research center project (ASK project), which is a Ministry of Education-sponsored project in 2014, and has spurred research on sport-ICT related.

The Sport-ICT research center consists of faculty and researchers who majored in sport medicine, sport marketing, sport physiology and biomechanics. Based on these various academic backgrounds, they conduct sport-ICT research. They hope that the research conducted by the Sport-ICT research center will realize not only elite sport but also national health and welfare promotion.
