- 강사: Yuko Kasuya (Keio University) 강의 주제: Political Polarization and Anti-Democratic Attitudes in Asia 강사 소개: Yuko Kasuya is Professor of Political Science in the Faculty of Law at Keio University (Tokyo). Her research focuses on regime transitions, political institutions, and the politics of East and Southeast Asia, with particular emphasis on the Philippines. She holds a Ph.D. in International Affairs from the University of California, San Diego, an M.A. in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies (Netherlands), and a B.A. in Law from Keio University. Her edited volume, Decolonization and Regime Change in Asia: Historical Origins of Democracy and Dictatorship, is forthcoming from Springer (2026). Her work has appeared in Asian Review, Electoral Studies, Journal of East Asian Studies, Legislative Studies Quarterly, and Party Politics. A leading expert on American foreign policy, technology, and global competition, he has shaped critical strategies in cybersecurity, satellite policy, telecommunications, and internet governance. Dr. Lewis was instrumental in drafting the first comprehensive national cybersecurity strategy and played a pivotal role in crafting global norms for responsible state behavior in cyberspace. His distinguished government service includes assignments in Central America, Panama, the Gulf War, and key international negotiations, including the Wassenaar Arrangement. - [교수동정] 정치외교학과 이희옥 교수, 정년퇴임 기념 고별강연
- 지난 6월 27일, 성균관대학교 국제관 9B218호에서 이희옥 교수님의 정년퇴임 기념 고별강연이 열렸습니다. 중국정치 연구와 학문후속세대 양성에 헌신해 오신 교수님의 오랜 여정을 함께 돌아보는 뜻깊은 자리였습니다. 많은 분들의 따뜻한 축하 속에, 교수님의 마지막 강연은 깊은 울림과 여운을 남겼습니다. 그간의 노고에 진심 어린 감사를 전하며, 새로운 시작을 향한 앞날에도 늘 건강과 평안이 함께하시기를 기원합니다. 함께해주신 모든 분들께 다시 한 번 감사드립니다.

- [교수동정] 정치외교학과 윤비 교수, 한국정치사상학회 회장 취임
- 정치외교학과 윤비 교수(사회과학대학 학장)가 한국정치사상학회 제26대 회장으로 지난 6월 21일 공식 취임했다. 한국정치사상학회는 정치사상과 정치철학 분야에서 국내 최대 규모를 자랑하는 학술 단체로, 다양한 학문적 교류와 연구 성과 확산을 이끌고 있다. 윤비 교수는 2010년 성균관대학교에 부임한 이래, 활발한 국내외 연구 활동을 펼쳐왔다. 2023년에는 세계적 학술기관인 독일 베를린 고등연구원(Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung)의 펠로우로 선임되었으며, 2021년에는 독일에서 단독 저서 『Wege zu Machiavelli (마키아벨리로 가는 길)』를 출간하여 서양 중세와 르네상스 정치사상에 대한 독창적 해석을 제시하였다. 최근에는 『위험한 국가의 위대한 민주주의』(생각정원, 2025)를 출간하며, 정치사상 연구 성과를 한국 민주주의의 현실과 접목하려는 시도를 이어가고 있다. 윤 교수는 이번 회장 취임을 계기로 국내 정치사상 연구의 학문적 지평을 넓히는 데 중심적 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

- 정치외교학과는 아프리카정치론 수업을 통해 지난 5월 19일 월요일 인문사회과학캠퍼스 호암관에서 토골라니(Togolani) 주한 탄자니아 대사 특강을 개최하였다. 토골라니 대사는 특강을 통해 동부아프리카에 위치한 탄자니아의 역사와 자연, 사회의 독특함을 학생들에게 소개했다. 특히, 탄자니아가 한국처럼 발전할 가능성이 무궁무진하다는 것을 강조했다. 그 근거로 탄자니아 인구가 매우 젊고 발전하고 싶다는 의욕이 넘칠뿐 아니라, 천연가스를 비롯한 다양한 지하자원을 보유하고 있음을 알려줬다. 최근 우리 기업인 포스코와 삼성 C&T, 현대로템 등이 탄자이나에 진출하기 시작했다는 소식도 전해주었다. 덧붙여, 이날 특강에 앞서 토골리니 대사는 유지범 총장을 방문, 환담을 나누며 성균관대학교가 탄자니아를 비롯한 아피라크 국가들과의 교류 확대 및 협력 강화를 모색해 나갈 필요성에 대해 서로 공감하는 시간을 가지기도 하였다.
