Title: Toward efficient superconducting qubit measurement using parametric interactions
Abstract:
In the typical measurement of a superconducting qubit, a weak microwave signal carrying qubit information is routed through magnetic circulators to an amplification chain. These circulators significantly increase the footprint of the measurement circuit and reduce measurement efficiency due to their loss. Limited efficiency presents a bottleneck to improvements in qubit measurement fidelity and prospects for analog quantum feedback in superconducting qubits. However, these issues can be circumvented by integrating the qubit-cavity system with a nonreciprocal amplifier. This talk will cover some basics of superconducting qubit measurement, how it can be improved with an integrated nonreciprocal amplifier, and current experimental progress in implementing the nonreciprocal amplifier with a parametrically coupled multimode circuit.
