Entegris is seeking a Synthetic Chemist to support method development of precursors for CVD and ALD applications. The job requires experience synthesizing air-sensitive organometallic compounds, laboratory design/set-up/maintain and excellent communication skills. This position also requires direct interaction and leading development project with external customer and supporting technical requests from customers. The Chemist opportunity is located in our Suwon, Korea R&D facility.

• Independently and/or under direction of the lead technologist, synthesize and purify air-sensitive organometallic/organosilane compounds for development of CVD/ALD precursors;
• Specify and maintain/own equipment as required (i.e. glove boxes); Support the installation and commissioning of new lab equipment;
• Document all experiments and results thoroughly;
• Present technical data within the development group;
• Conduct Thermal Stability testing of promising compounds;
• Analyze compounds as needed (NMR, STA);
• Fulfill R&D sample orders involving make, purity, container fill and shipment of air sensitive organometallic/organosilane compounds up to 1000g;
• Participate in the scale-up of commercially attractive compounds;
• Search/Analysis/Summary all existing literature and patents for certain precursors;
• Create and present materials including method development of precursors, technical data to external customers;
• With demonstrated success, the role may grow in responsibility to include supervision of junior chemists and/or technicians.

Successful candidates will typically have the following skill set:

• Bachelors or Master’s in Chemistry with experience (PhD preferred);
• Demonstrated academic or industry experience in synthetic organometallic/organosilane techniques;
• Experience handling air sensitive chemicals and reactions;
• Experience in analysis (NMR, STA, GC-MS, ICP-MS, Karl-Fisher);
• Past experience with hands-on experience managing lab operations, including supervision of personnel, creating and maintaining documentation (work instructions), and compliance with EH&S requirements is highly desirable;
• Experience in the semiconductor materials; the ideal candidate has a good understanding of semiconductor processes and technology;
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions/requests from internal groups and external customers;
• May be required to satisfy applicable U.S. regulations trade control requirements.
