Summary
As you know, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus had gotten a release date on Feb, 2018, with the best innovative technology ever. While new technology and improvement of the Galaxy Edge are showing, the Edge’s curved screen intrigues the world. This is because of newly developed organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays.
Based on Professor Tang’s findings in 1987, OLED displays have been developed and implemented from mobile phones to mid-sized, large-sized displays. For these displays, backplane technology is imperative. The luminance and reliability of OLED displays relies on not only organic materials, but TFT characteristics on backplanes. These challenges of TFT fabrication for better AMOLED displays represent new opportunities for innovation.
This Seminar is intended to be a forum for engineers and scientists interested in exchanging technical information on concepts and innovations in the backplane technology of OLED displays.
Background
Byoung Seong Jeong received the Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida at Gainesville in 2004. His specialty and major was Electronic Materials, Semiconducting Oxide TFT. He joined Samsung Electronics LCD Division in 2004 and had performed several projects such as world first LCD TV, TFT backplane technologies for AMOLED. In Samsung Display from 2010, he has developed several key technologies for large-size OLED TV and the world first and biggest Transparent display. As a result of these achievements, he won Samsung Award of Honor 2013, Bronze Award in CEO Commendation 2014, Gold Award in Samsung Best Papers 2015 and a outstanding Poster in Samsung Display Best Papers 2017. Currently, he is a project leader in the development for innovative devices and process development for new OLED applications.
