Professor Ryu Doojin, the Department of Economics,
Successful Lecture by Prominent Overseas Scholars in the WAVE Course
With support from the Office of Academic Affairs (Director Baesanghoon), a successful WAVE course special lecture by Professor Ryu Doojin from the Department of Economics was held in a hybrid format, combining on-site and online sessions, at the Live Virtual Studio in the Management Building on April 16th (Tuesday) at 6 p.m.
Professor Jens Müller-Merbach from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences delivered the on-site lecture, while Professor Robert Webb from the University of Virginia participated in the online session, leading a Q&A session with the students. Following Professor Webb's lecture on financial markets, discussions were held on the students' papers on Defi (Decentralized Finance) and Cefi (Crypto Finance). Alexander Webb, a New York Times columnist and bestselling author on Amazon, lectured on academic and practical writing in the finance field.
Students are currently writing essays based on the content they learned in this WAVE course on Financial Economics. Professor Webb, drawing from his experience of serving as Editor-in-Chief for 24 years at the prestigious SSCI journal, the Journal of Futures Markets, assists students in submitting their international SSCI academic papers. Professor Müller-Merbach will provide guidance on writing term papers focusing on Financial Industry and Market Practice, leveraging his knowledge and experience in financial practice. Alexander Webb, the writer, advises on topic selection, writing, and contributions.
On May 21st, Professor Webb and Professor Maria Kim from the University of Wollongong in Australia will visit our university for a second lecture and interaction with students. Based on drafts written during the course, students will proceed with follow-up research for global dissemination at the SKKU Global Finance Research Center (headed by Director Ryu Doojin, head of the Economics Institute). Immediately after the conclusion of the WAVE course, leveraging this, the International Office plans to visit Australia through the SKKU BA-DIVE (Bonding and Dive-In) program to promote academic exchange and the dissemination of international collaborative research outcomes between SKKU undergraduate students and overseas researchers.
