- Professor Lee Eui-kyung published a paper in HEPATOLOGY.
- Demonstrate the cost effectiveness of screening tests for liver cell carcinoma using MRI in patientswith high-risk cirrhosis Professor Lee Eui-kyung's research team (Dr. Kim Hye-rin, 1st author) published an economic evaluation paper in HEPATOLOGY (IF=14.079) which is one of the most prestigious journals in the field of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. Professor Lee Eui-kyung's research team, in cooperation with Professor Lim Young-seok of Seoul Asan Medical Center, established an economic evaluation model for screening liver cell cancer, and compared the ultrasound test recommended for screening liver cancer in clinical guidelines to analyze cost effectiveness. As a result, the screening tests using MRI were cost effective in the group, which has a high risk of liver cell cancer, since the cost of testing is 4.75 times higher than that of ultrasound, but the sensitivity of the test is high, and in particular, the detection rate of liver cancer is high in very early stages, where relatively inexpensive clinical treatment can be implemented. The results of this study are expected to be used as an important basis when clinicians choose screening methods according to the risk of liver cell cancer in patients.

- Professor Cho Eun-jung's research team released a paper on the Nuclear Accidents Research
- Discovered RNA material that induces muscle cell differentiation and muscle formation - Large-scale Chromatin 3D Reorganization RNA induces muscle production - Professor Cho Eun-jung's research team discovered a new non-translational RNA that facilitates muscle cell differentiation and induces muscle tissue formation by reprogramming gene expression by inducing massive reorganization of chromatin chromosomes in the nucleus. Muscle stem cells exist in a single-body cell state and regenerate and replenish new muscle tissue through cell division and cell fusion at a time when muscle regeneration is necessary due to muscle damage and other reasons. At this time, a large-scale change in chromatin chromosomes occurs and the gene expression program shifts toward muscle formation, the detailed molecular mechanism of which is unknown. In response, the research team discovered Chromatin Re-organization 1 (ChRO1), a new non-translational RNA that induces 3D changes in large chromatin chromosomes. Through cell and animal experiments, the researchers found that the CHRO1 RNA combines with the hormone-controlled protein DAXX/ATRX to fuse large-scale chromatin domains and alter the 3D composition of the nucleus to promote the expression of muscle genes. This study was published online on October 18th, the world's leading journal in molecular biology.

- Professor Insu Kim's research team decorates OCF cover paper
- Development of New Synthesis Method of 2-naphthol Derivatives by Carbon-Hydrogen Conversion Using Rhodium Catalysts Prof. Insu Kim's research team (1st author: Sang-Hoon Han) made the cover of the Organic Chemistry Frontiers (IF 5.455, JCR ranking 8.8%) magazine, published in November. Synthesis of 2-naphthol is known by several traditional synthesis methods and methods using metal catalysts exist, but there are disadvantages in that they require a chemical equivalent reaction or a multi-step reaction in order to use a metal catalyst. Therefore, the first results on the synthesis of 2-naphthol derivatives through the carbon-hydrogen direct conversion reaction can be said to have greater utility than the conventional synthesis method in terms of economics and efficiency. In addition, various derivatives of 2-naphthol, which is a product, can be used not only as an important skeleton for natural product synthesis but also as a core precursor for various ligand synthesis.
