[Indiana University] Professor, Kelley School of Business
Idalene “Idie” Kesner is on the board of directors of Duke Energy, Berry Global, Olympic Steel, American Family and the Lincoln Industries’ Board of Advisors. Previously she served on the board of Sun Life Financial, and on the non-profit board of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which is the global accrediting body for business schools.
Dr. Kesner previously served as Dean of the Kelley School of Business, Chairperson for Kelley Executive Education Foundation and Chairperson of the School’s three Dean’s Counsel.
She joined the Kelley School faculty in 1995, coming from a titled faculty position at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
While at Indiana University (IU), she served as Chairperson of Kelley’s Fulltime MBA Program, Chairperson of the Management and Entrepreneurship Department, and co-director of the School’s Consulting Academy.
She is currently Editor-in-Chief for Business Horizons. Her research is in the areas of boards of directors, corporate governance, and CEO succession, and she has published articles in numerous journals including Harvard Business Review, Business Horizons, Academy of Management Review, and Strategic Management Journal. Dr. Kesner teaches strategy, change management, crisis management, and turnaround management. She teaches in the Kelley-SKK MBA program and Kelley Direct Online MBA Program. Dr. Kesner has taught in more than 100 executive programs and served as a consultant for many national and international firms.
Dr. Kesner earned doctorate and MBA degrees from IU and an undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University.
