- 'S.T.A.R (president : Jeebock Park)', a stock investment club of SKKU Business Administration, received an ‘Excellent Award’ at “The 1st Undergraduates Model Portfolio Management Competition” hosted by Hanwha Investment Trust Management on Dec 23, 2010. Prof. Sunhae Hyun, Dean of SKKU Business School offered his congratulations and encouragements. Hanwha Investment Trust Management is now a subsidiary of Hanhwa Group, but it originally was born as the Jeil Investment Advisory Firm in April 1988. It keeps trying to give future fund managers valuable opportunities to be familiar with this kind of unique job through running the Undergraduates Model Portfolio Management Competition.

- 2011 Business Department Freshmen and Parents' Meeting
- On January 26th, a meeting was held with the freshmen of the Business department and their parents at Jo Byung Do International Hall, in the 600th Anniversary building. Approximately 200 students and parents filled the venue. Although the weather was freezing, the meeting was heated by the strong interest of future SKKU students. Dean Sunhae Hyun warmly welcomed and greeted the freshmen and then shared the Business department’s vision. Vice Dean Sangman Han outlined the educational goals of the Business department as nurturing creative global leaders through globalization and innovation, expanding education budget, enhancing the level of research 30 times, and recruiting more faculty and staff. Students and parents received a wide range of information of the SKKU Business department and showed a strong will for studying as freshmen.

- Sungmin Ha (Business Administration ’76) has been appointed as president of SK Telecom. Mr. Ha earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Sungkyunkwan University. Since he joined SunKyung in 1982, he has worked as head of Financial Management of Shinsegi Telecom, director of SKT Management Planning , Strategy Planning, Corporate Center, and president of MNO Biz. - Mr. Bokgi Min, CEO of EXR
- A special lecture was provided by Mr. Bokgi Min, CEO of EXR on April 10as part of the Understanding Corporate Business with the CEO program. Mr. Min opened 100 stores within a year he launched EXR. He explained that EXR, the name itself stands for the philosophy of something new via cross- over of things different. He said “It means to lead evolution and revolution of fashion through Emotion and Reason combined (X) progressive spirit. EXR made a license contract with CONVERSE, a famous American shoe company, in 2005 and KAPPA, an Italian clothing company, in 2009. He said, “CONVERSE`s domestic sales was about 210 billion won and KAPPA’s was about 87 billion won in 2010”. Mr. Min also said, “ I always think of “Progressive” which is the philosophy of the company. How can I use this word of progressive in fashion and brand company? Because I think that all thought do not stem from fashion but brand business perspective, my ultimate goal is to make a competitive global brand and to be a global leader in fashion business. I also would like to carry the philosophy of progressive into action through contribution programs since the sustainability of the company lies with our customers and all members of society”. Mr. Min obtained his bachelor’s degree in Clothing and Textiles from ChungAng University and IDBM (The International Design Business Management programme) from Helsinki University. He worked for NIKE KOREA in 1986, FILA KOREA as a director of sales planning department in 1991.

- Mr. Yonghwan Kim, chairman & president of The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank), provided a special lecture on April 14 as part of the Understanding Corporate Business with the CEO program. Mr. Kim earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Sungkyunkwan University in 1980 and master’s degree in International Economics from Vanderbilt University. He passed 23th civil service examination in 1980 and served as a standing commissioner at the Financial Supervisory Commission in 2004, the first senior deputy governor of the Financial Supervisory Service in 2008, and currently he is serving as a chairman & president of Korea Eximbank. Korea Eximbank is an official export credit agency providing comprehensive export credit and guarantee programs to support Korean enterprises in conducting overseas business. Since its establishment in 1976, the bank has actively supported Korea's export-led economy and facilitated economic cooperation with foreign countries. Korea Eximbank's primary services include export loans, trade finance. The bank also provides overseas investment credit, natural resources development credit, import credit, and information services related to business opportunities abroad. Furthermore, the bank is responsible for the operation of two government funds: the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), a Korean Official Development Assistance program, and the Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund (IKCF), an economic cooperation program with North Korea.

- Mr. Jaehan Ryu, CEO of Korea Finance Corporation
- Mr. Jaehan Ryu, CEO of Korea Finance Corporation (KoFC), provided a special lecture on April 7 as part of the Understanding Corporate Business with the CEO program. In his lecture, The role of Finance Policy and its Direction for Development, Mr. Ryu explained briefly mission and policy role of Korea Finance Corporation. Mr. Ryu also explained changes of KoFC through issues through the ages in domestic financial markets. For example, he mentioned about the major role of KoFC in the national financial crisis like IMF. Mr. Ryu earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Seoul National University and master’s degree in Economics from University of Pennsylvania. Before his current position as a CEO of KoFC since 2009, he had worked for the Ministry of Finance and Economy as head of Policy Coordination Bureau, Korea Financial Intelligence Unit (KoFIU) as a commissioner, and Korea Housing Finance Corp. as a president. KoFC took a first step in its history on October 28th, 2009. It identifies and develops businesses that may face difficulties in obtaining funds despite their importance for the national economy. Such businesses include new growth engine industries, green businesses and projects for the expansion of social infrastructure. Its priority also lies with supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through leveraging advanced policy-based financing methods such as the on-lending scheme.

- Mr. Hwaneik Cho, President of KOTRA
- Mr. Hwaneik Cho, President of KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), provided a special lecture on March 24 as part of the Understanding Corporate Business with the CEO program. In his lecture, Volatility of Global Economy and the Future of Korean Economy, Mr. Cho explained briefly shifts in Korean economy and global economic changes, structural changes of world economy and its current situation. Also, he mentioned that Korea is one of the sensitive countries to climatic change. He picked up climate calamity and social communication as mega trends that Korea has to solve in the future. Since its establishment in 1962 to assist with Korea’s transformation into an export-driven nation, KOTRA has played an indispensable role in the growth of the Korean economy. Mr. Cho earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University and master’s degree in Business Administration from New York University. He passed 14th civil service examination in 1973, and served in the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, the Korea Export Insurance Corporation as a president for about one year from 2007. He has been working as a president of KOTRA since 2007 June. He also received a presidential citation in 1991 and received Order of Service Merit (Yellow Stripes) Award in 2006.
