The SKKU Business School administration has been operating a class-based management system in order to reinforce and enhance relationships among classmates since the fall semester of 2009. The 2009 SKKU Business School freshmen have been divided into ten classes with an SKKU faculty advisor assigned to personally mentor and tutor teams of four students. In addition, Global Business Issue I is being offered as of March 27 in order to promote freshmen globalization and international competences. Prior to the first lecture, a tutor appointment ceremony and orientation was held with 43 tutors, including three head tutors, composed of current students of the Asia MBA, EMBA, IMBA, and MS in Management programs. Tutors selected from the EMBA and IMBA programs are working in all sections of society, offering freshmen opportunities to gain practical advice and information.
Tutors of the Asia MBA and MS in Management programs are expected to provide actual know-how in studies and campus life. Since they are full-time students, freshmen can have opportunities to meet them more often on campus.
Letters of appointment were awarded to each tutor by Prof. Dong-Ok Chah, associate dean of SKKU Graduate School of Business, and Prof. Jong-Bom Chay, associate dean of SKKU Business School. Tutors were asked to provide sufficient support for the freshmen of SKKU Business School in order that they may develop into competent global leaders.
Global Business Issues I and II are being offered from this spring semester and only to the freshmen of SKKU Business School. A total of 334 freshmen registered for this course.
The freshmen classes have between 32 to 34 freshmen, with four tutors and one SKKU faculty advisory professor. Students will be asked to make presentations on specific hot topics like the global economic crisis, the emergence of the G20, globalization and diversity, of business ethics and social responsibility.
