[CICE/CSW– Graduate School] Notice in changes regarding completion of Research Ethics Course (Writing of IT Technical Papers in English and Research Ethics, IT Technical Seminal)
Every graduate student in SKKU is required to take Research Ethics course as a requirement to prevent from plagiarisms in writing thesis as well as have ethical implications in one’s research. If the requirement is not fulfilled, you are no longer eligible for both completed coursework and degree.
Students of CICE/CSW are required to take both ‘Writing of IT Technical Papers in English and Research Ethics (ECE5902, 2 credits)’ course and ‘IT Technical Seminal (ECE5903, 1 credit)’ course to fulfil of ethics course requirements (3 credits in total).
However, because of the difficulty of providing guaranteed courses, CICE/CSW will be changed of take the ethics course as below from 2020. Therefore, students should consider the following changes when planning the course for the next semester.

2. Implemented Date: March 1st 2020
※ To minimize confusion and disadvantage of the students who have already taken one of courses from Before Implementation (1 or 2 credits), a year of grace period (2019) will be given.
3. Target students
A. Freshmen enrolling after March 2020 (includes freshmen who enrolled on March 2020)
B. All enrolled students who have not taken ‘Writing of IT Technical Papers in English and Research Ethics’ course prior to the 2019 Fall semester.
4. Note
A. Previously existing courses (Writing of IT Technical Papers in English and Research Ethics, IT Technical Seminal) will no longer be opened from the academic year of 2020.
B. If one has not taken existing courses in the academic year of 2019, one has to take ‘Thesis Writing and Research Ethics 1’ course from the academic year of 2020 as the prerequisite credits.
※ The prerequisite credits are not included in the completion credits (24 credits for Master's / 36 for Ph.D. / 51 credits for Ph.D. Therefore, to complete the coursework(credits), the student must take additional major or elective course.(except for prerequisite credits)
