Since China is emerging quickly as one of the biggest economies, it is increasingly important to understand Chinese firms. This course focuses on strategic management practice of Chinese companies. Through providing fundamental concepts and analysis tools of strategic management, this course aims to improve students’ capabilities in strategy formulation and implementation for Chinese companies. The main topics covered include analysis of strategic environment and internal resource, business strategies and competitive advantage, corporate strategies and competitive advantage, and strategy implementation in the Chinese context. This course uses various case studies of Chinese firms to help students understand how a Chinese firm can create and sustain competitive advantage facing intense market competition

Most people agree that there is a pressing need for ethics in business, though ethics continues to remain an unsettled part of business philosophy. This course helps the students to recognize and respond to the ethical dilemmas and social responsibility issues of the business life. This course exposes students to rigorous theoretical analysis, while at the same time striving for practical relevance for real-world business practices. Along the way, we consider the role of business in society and our role as leaders in business. In addition, students will have the opportunity to clarify their own values by thinking about the relationships among personal values, organizational values, societal values, and business practice.

[COURSE DESCRIPTION] This course seeks to provide students with a wealth of contextual applications for the theories and practices they have learned. Students will work in groups on a challenging and comprehensive business project. For the project, students will conduct the market, strategic and financial analyses, so as to produce a valid project output for a real company or organization. The topics assigned for the project will vary each semester, depending on the nature/industry of the client firm. [COURSE OUTCOMES] Upon completion of this course, students will: (1) be able to synthesize theory and practice; (2) have real-world work experience that will make them more attractive candidates for professional jobs; (3) be exposed to intensive real-life working environments; (4) exhibit depth of thought with which students can identify problems and solutions within the contexts of business planning

This course offers an introduction to sustainable business management and strategic marketing framework to cope with realities surrounding global companies. The main objectives of the course are to: (1) introduce key concepts of sustainable business growth in the global economy, (2) develop an understanding of the key forces driving changes of business environment, (3) provide theoretical frameworks and approaches for formulating marketing strategies for sustainable growth, (4) study cases of global companies and brands which evolved their business and marketing strategies for sustainable growth, and (5) analyze/present a case using the framework studied in the class.

Behavioral Finance and Fintech have become mainstream areas in finance. As opposed to neoclassical finance, behavioral finance accepts the fact that markets are not efficient and the CEOs are psychologically biased. Technological development such as Big Data and Machine Learning enabled the researchers to measure the psycholocal biases of the CEOs and the sentiments of the market participants, which turned out to be the key elements in FinTech such as Robo-Analyst and algorithmic trading. Students will learn about Blockchain and the bubble in bitcoin markets; financial bubbles; sentiments in the market and algorithmic trading; and psychological biases of the CEO and corporate financial decisions.

This class involves several aspects of managing people such as understanding, coordinating, motivating, and influencing people. In the first part of the class, we will aim at sharpening group decision-making, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills. In the second part, we will focus on how to use power, politics, and social networks as tools for influencing people. We will see how to navigate the political environment created by your connections, and the connections of others in order to best get the resources, information, and support you need for achieving your professional and personal goals. this course will help you develop the following: -Possess managerial skills to address organizational problems -Develop lifelong skills for career and professional development In particular: students will understand some of the major biases/problems affecting work in groups and their overall impact on performance.

This is human resource (HR) data analytics course in management designed to give students' exposure to essential HR-related theories and concepts and the usage of statistical programs to analyze HR-related datasets. More specifically, this course provides knowledge and information about basic concepts and theories relating to staffing, training/development, performance management, compensation, and other advanced topics and help students develop skills in analyzing the HR-related dataset. Therefore, this course helps students acquire knowledge relating to HR and develop skills for analyzing HR-related datasets.
