Corporate Finance Strategy
The course discusses how to formulate a corporate financial strategy from the perspective of the company manager. It starts with a general discussion of the principles, as well as fallacy and trap, of the value creation. After a brief review of the basic valuation methods, the course will cover the corporate financial strategy topics such as working capital, capital structure, deal making, investor relation, and corporate governance.
Equity Market & Valuation
The course will focus on the equity markets and the conceptual framework for investing in equity securities. It will provide a broad overview of equity investing and prepare the students with sufficient knowledge to make informed investment decisions.
Cost Analysis & Management Control
This course provides an analysis of cost/revenue information in managerial decision-making contexts and examines issues related to management control. Topics include cost-volume-profit (CVP) relation, performance evaluation, cost allocation, and transfer pricing
Mergers and Acquisitions
A corporate merger and acquisition (M&A) can have a profound effect on a company’s growth prospects. This course focuses on the design, analysis and execution of an M&A transaction. The class will have a balanced discussion on the potential value creation opportunity and risk exposure of an M&A deal. Students will gain insight into the core value creating M&A strategies. Such insight will not only guide professionals in financial intuitions but also help corporate managers in pursuit of their corporate strategy.
Finance Analytics
Quantitative models based on statistical foundations and programming skills are vital ingredients to process information accurately and promptly. This course uses R programming to collect and analyze the data, optimize the investment portfolio, and trade securities. The course is well suited for a wide range of audiences. If you want to know how to program using R, you will learn that with the investment examples. If you're going to have extensive quantitative skills in the investment field, this course can be the first step. If you want to use data analysis for your future personal investment, this course will give you enough tools to start.
Financial Risk Management
The course will first derive a comprehensive understanding of how derivative markets operate with an emphasis on the practical use of derivative securities. The course will focus on financial futures such as stock index, interest rate, and foreign currency futures, followed by option strategies, swaps, and other OTC derivatives. The course will then cover how to identify financial risks and how to use derivatives within the context of risk management, as multinational enterprises face increased risks through the rapid internationalization of financial markets.
International Financial Decision Making
This course introduces business students to the fundamentals of international finance. We will learn an essential set of tools for understanding the trades and investments and for analyzing financial decisions that individuals and firms make in global financial environment. We will also discuss various types of political and legal risks when investing in emerging markets.
Money & Investing
The aim of the course is to bring together insights from finance and macroeconomics that are useful for formulating investment strategies and asset allocation decisions. The first part of the course describes the business cycle, including its stages and subcycles and focuses on the major role that monetary policy plays in managing and causing business cycles. The second part relates the financial trends that are particularly important to their absolute and relative return performance.
