2020 Summer Team Building Event for freshmen
has been successfully completed
Due to COVID-19, most of the official events including entrance ceremonies and orientation were canceled and classes were also fully conducted online in the spring semester of 2020, so freshmen did not have a chance to visit the school.
In response, University College(Dean. Yoo Hong Jun) held a five-day ‘Summer Team Building Event’ on both campuses for 2020 freshmen with the Freshman Guide(FG) from July 20th(Mon) to 24th(Fri).
A total of 880 freshmen from 93 convergence LCs from both campuses participated in the event. They conducted interaction through Webex, recreation with FG seniors, and campus tours. Freshmen who participated in the event were presented with school brochures, a Guide for Freshman, an alumni bulletin, and a ballpoint pen and a mask with a school mark as souvenirs.
Oh Jeong Hoon, a freshman of Humanities Science, said, “It was so nice to see the school building in person, and it was great to see my classmates who I had only seen online. If I start offline classes in the future, I would like to study all night at the library and take late night snacks during the exam period.”
Woo Seung Hee, a freshman of Nature Science, said, “The school facilities including the Samsung Library were nicer than I expected, and interaction and information exchange with classmates was much better than when we met online. This event was a great opportunity for freshmen of 2020.”
Ma Ha Na Im, a sophomore of English Language and Literature and the president of FG in Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, said, “It was a great opportunity for freshmen to receive academic information more accurately, such as major application and graduation requirements. And it was also a good opportunity to get closer to classmates and seniors through various recreational activities. I appreciate the freshmen’s active participation in spite of the bad weather.”
This event was held in compliance with the COVID-19 prevention guideline, including wearing masks, installing hand sanitizers, accepting limited number of students in the classroom.
In the upcoming fall semester, University College will also match two FG students for each LC to closely support freshmen and actively communicate with them.
