ECE5956 Optimal Design of Electromagnetic Systems 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Korean Yes
The objective of this subject is to deal with methodology for optimal design of electromagnetic systems, which is applied for performance improvement of various electromagnetic systems such as electric energy conversion system, actuator, transducer, sensors, etc. The main content of the subject is about design sensitivity analysis for electrostatics, magnetostatics and eddy current system. The related topics to be dealt with include inverse problems in electromagnetic system, optimization algorithm, level set method, implementation with the finite element method. The above basic theory and algorithm are applied to some practical engineering problems.

Also, this course includes basic properties of flexible substrates, flexible electrode materials and flexible semiconductor materials. This lecture should be registered by the members of the Display Professional Training Track. The filed Training with participating companies and submit the outcome reports will be required. The students should have skills for solve the technical problems, learn the field application of various display technologies through the basic theory, and develop the student’s abilities that solve the problems by new ideas. The students will be received the instructions by the advisor and researcher of participating company. The important evaluation Criteria is the proper activities for industrial cooperation and solve the problems, not only work for companies during a set period.

In this lecture, the core technologies for DC distribution system are provided. The overall system topology and control algorithm for AC-DC rectifier, which converts the AC source to DC source, are handled in detail. Also, the physical characteristics of the various renewable energies, including PV, and high capacity battery system, which are the major DC source, are studied. The stability of DC power utility, DC circuit breaker, and DC home appliances are included. Overall system, including core technologies, is examined through the simulation training in order to help the understanding of the students.

ECE5970 Advanced Antenna Engineering 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-5 Korean Yes
This course begins with an introduction of practical antennas for wireless communication and radar applications. The theory of electromagnetic equivalence, radiation principles, and various antenna parameters such as gain, directivity, and radiation pattern are presented. Basic dipole antennas are analyzed based on the antenna radiation principle. Next, advanced theory for the analysis of aperture and horn antennas will be introduced. Finally, characteristics of practical microstrip array antennas and waveguide slot arrays are evaluated using a technique of array synthesis.
