- [General] SKKU CCECC Professor Na Jong-seok's book is selected Sejong books
- Professor Na Jong-seok's book, "The Search for great unity Democracy and the 21st Century's Critical Theory," which was published in April by the Center for Critical Study and Modern study of Confucian classics under the Institute of Confucian Culture (Director Kim Do-il) at Sungkyunkwan University, was selected as the recommended book for the academic section of Sejong Book in 2023. The Confucian Culture Research Institute, whose vision is to discover the ideology and culture that humanity will pursue together through the modern reinterpretation of Confucian ideas, was selected as a support project for the Humanities and Social Research Institute of the Korea Research Foundation in 2021 and established the "Criticism and Modern Study of Confucian classics Research Center". This research center is seeking a way to re-invent the Confucian values directly connected to modern society in a situation where traditional study of Confucian classics has declined, and to criticize our reality through this. As part of that, They are exploring traditional virtues that can be reconstructed as citizenship and community values realized based on them. To this end, the center has held various academic conferences such as "Humility" while exploring Confucian virtues, such as "Methodological Exploration of Modern Study of Confucian classics ", which explored the direction of modern study of Confucian classics , and "Harmony on Order: Ideology and Practice of Military New Government", which examines the possibilities contained in the ideal of Confucian harmony, and is preparing for an academic conference in which philosophers from the East and the West talk under the theme of "Solidarity and Harmony". In addition, various academic exchanges are being created through the planning of the "Modern Study of Confucian classics Master Editorial Group" series, which invites and discusses prominent domestic and foreign scholars as lecturers. 『Great unity democracy and the search for a 21st-century Confucian critical theory』 is a work that was opened to the public as a result of the Center for Research on Critical Confucianism and Modern Study of Confucian classics , which is making such efforts, and its author is Professor Na Jong-seok, a co-researcher at the center. Professor Na Jong-seok, who, as a Hegel philosophy major, has explored the psychological and historical conditions of the development of Korean society without staying in Western philosophy, has made the direction of the research center an outstanding research result. In this book, the author describes modern and contemporary Korean history from the dual perspective of democratic transformation and dynamic transformation of the Confucian tradition of Joseon society, and systematically develops a new critical theory suitable for our time by reflecting on the spirit and ideology that drove such history philosophically. In this regard, the center held a book symposium commemorating the publication of the research book in June 23 to conduct in-depth book reviews and discussions with various scholars. The selection of Sejong books is expected to serve as an opportunity to further publicize the academic originality and excellence of this book and further expand its academic contribution. For more information on the various events and plans being held by the Book Information and Research Center, visit the website of the Confucian Cultural Research Institute (ygmh.skku.edu ) or the website of the Center for Non-Study and Modern Study of Confucian classics (swb.skku.edu/ccecc) ). ※ Writer Introduction: Na Jong seok He graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in philosophy and received a doctorate in philosophy from Germany with his thesis on Hegel and Vico. He served as president of the Society of Social Studies and Philosophy Research and chairman of the Korean Hegel Society, and is currently vice president of the Korean Philosophy Association and a professor at Yonsei University's Institute of Liberal Arts and Korean Studies. - The Korea Confucian Culture Promotion Agency's 2023 Korea Arts Center's Korean Academic Research Service was selected
- The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute of Confucian College (Director: Professor Kim Dong-min, Research Officer: Jeong Byung-seop), was selected by the Korea Confucian Culture Promotion Agency as the 2023 Korean Academic Research Service The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute (Director: Professor Kim Dong-min) of the College of Foreign Studies of this school was selected as the 2023 Korean Academic Research Service of the Korea Arts Center (Research Director: Jeong Byung-seop). For the promotion and succession of Korean Confucian culture, Korean translation of Korean art literature, which is the core, is necessary. The 2023 Korea Arts Center's Yehakseo International Academic Research Service, which runs from July 2023 to December 2023, is a project to "discover popularization and modern value through translation of Korean arts data" and "storage of national studies data and expand the base of national studies research." Portrait of Seongho Lee Ik (1681-1763) "The Complete Collection of Seongho," Volume 49 Source: Korean National Culture Encyclopedia "Lee Seonsaeng Yeseolyupyeon" In this Korean translation project, the original text of Seongho Lee Ik (1681-1763)'s "Lee Seonsaengseol Yupyeon" is entered, marked, taught, translated, and released. It has been known that only the preface has been handed down in Seonghojeonseo and the text has been put into practice, but it is the first Korean translation and introduction through this Korean translation project. Yi Ik-yi collected and organized the examples by type in the collection of Toegye Yi Hwang (1501-1570) and added later explanations and his views as annotations to Yi Hwang's theory, and is a transcript of two volumes above and below. Yi Ik revealed the principle of organization as follows in the preface. According to the order of "Garye", Banggukrye and Hyangrye were also included separately at the end, the headline of the detailed article was presented as the key words of the excerpt, the source was revealed as the volume and number of pages of "Toegyejip", and the scholar's opinion was not set up. The Korean translation of this book requires the ability to translate classical literature and the collaboration of experts familiar with various examples, examples, and Neo-Confucianism. Through the selection of this project, the Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute of Confucian College was externally recognized. The Confucian Philosophy and Cultural Contents Research Institute plans to provide data to understand not only Lee Hwang's systematic view of the art theory but also the art of profit in general through the Korean translation of "Mr. Lee Ye-seol". Furthermore, the best experts in the field, the Korean translation team, will discover the value of this book through a sense of mission and sincere business execution, and further expand the base of Korean arts research. In addition, this project is expected to serve as an opportunity to improve the authenticity of Korean Confucian literature and the capacity of Korean translation at international universities. The completed Korean translation will be a public service through the archives of the Korea Confucian Culture Promotion Agency's Yehakseo in the future, and will also be published as a book. Since 2018, this research institute has been carrying out the "Cultural Heritage Administration's Important Record Heritage Local Project" to enhance the public's understanding of traditional culture and lay the foundation for content development and academic development based on traditional culture. Currently, professors at the University of Foreign Studies, new Ph.D.-level researchers, and graduate students of the next generation of academics belong to each department and are actively conducting research activities.

- Introducing the achievements of Important Records and Heritage (Research Manager: Prof. Kim Dong-min)
- [Dong-A daily report article] Introducing the achievements of the National Register of Important Records and Heritage of the Cultural Heritage Administration (Research Manager: Professor Kim Dong-min) Yuji by Ryu Seong-ryong, Contents not in the Annals... Evaluation of historical materials that will fill the gap in the Japanese Invasion of Korea The Battle of Ugeumchi: The Complete Translation of Munjung Jeokdo The original text of the Cultural Heritage Administration will be released next year “Included in the contemporary era... Foundation of follow-up research” The portrait of Seo Ae Ryu Seong-ryong during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. Provided by the Cultural Heritage Administration “Discuss the enemy's movements with Byeongbu-si and Song Eung-chang of the Ming Dynasty to come up with a plan to quickly advance the military. The police command the generals, arrange the government and righteous army separately, and if the enemies have not yet landed, destroy the enemy ship that has crossed with the naval forces, and if the enemies have already landed, cooperate with the elite soldiers to intercept.” On April 18, 1593, during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1593, the contents of the Yuji given by Seonjo to Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong (1542-1607), a spirit tablet and conductor (the highest military post in the Joseon Dynasty). Two months ago, Jeolla Province observer Kwon Yul (1537-1599) defeated the Japanese enemy at Haengjusanseong Fortress, but no generals around him offered to help him. There are a series of reports that our troops are running away from the battlefield, and the Japanese enemy's power has been increasing, such as a wind lantern. Seonjo ordered Ryu Seong-ryong to preemptively attack the Japanese ship by mobilizing government and righteous army. ● "Contents of government measures at the time of the Imran“ On April 18, 1593, King Seonjo sent Ryu Seong-ryong an instruction to destroy the enemy ship that crossed with the naval forces if the enemy has not yet landed in Busan, and if they have already landed, cooperate with elite soldiers to intercept the Japanese ships. This was not confirmed in other historical materials, such as the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty or Jingbirok written by Ryu Seong-ryong. Provided by the Cultural Heritage Administration Two books "Yoo Seong-ryong's Family Register-Yuji," was translated into Korean for the first time, which contains a total of 77 items, including 76 Yuji issued by King Seonjo to Ryu Seong-ryong between 1592 and 1607 and one suicide note (an order issued by the king to a military authority). Since 2018, the Cultural Heritage Administration and Sungkyunkwan University (Head Kim Dong-min) have translated 30 types of ancient documents (1,869,374 characters in total) designated as treasures through the "Important Record Heritage National Translation Project." Through this project, this historical material, which was held by the head family and difficult to access to the general public, was transferred to Korean. It is evaluated that the Yuji handed down to Ryu Seong-ryong will fill the gap in the study of the history of the Imjin War as it contains detailed countermeasures of the royal court, which are not in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty. The maintenance of 18 April 1593, which contained countermeasures against the surging Japanese ships, contained a case of coordination that had not been identified in previous records. A day earlier, on April 17, 1593, the Annals said, "Who wouldn't be concerned about the enemy's dispatch of more troops this spring. It is only recorded that "Let the Border Defense Council take action." There are no details in "Jingbirok" and "Seoaejip" left by Ryu Sung-ryong. In addition, Yuji specifically conveys measures summarized in the Annals regarding military supply measures, requests for reinforcements to the Ming Dynasty, and discussions on repatriation of prisoners. Roh Seung-seok, chairman of Dongguk University's Yeohae Research Institute, who completely translated "Nanjung Ilgi," explained, "This historical material will not only help us analyze the royal court's tactics and success or failure at the time of Imran, but also create a three-dimensional figure history that reverses the flat evaluation of our ancestors.“ The emotions of ancestors, which were not recorded in the central government-run historical records, including the Annals of Seonjo, are also revealed in the maintenance. On March 25, 1593, King Seonjo sent Ryu Seong-ryong to Yuji, saying, "I can't stop crying because the Ming general has already decided to strengthen the Japanese enemy." At that time, the Annals of King Seonjo only said, "Shim Yu-kyung (?~1597) who was an envoy of the Ming Dynasty signed a peace with the Japanese commander and said he would defeat the military by April 8." However, Yuji vividly shows the anger of his ancestors after the strategy to draw cooperation from the Ming army failed. ● Describe of the Battle of Ugeumch Through this project, "Hamyang Park's Jeongranggongpa Munjungjeon-Naambeop," which contains the Battle of Ugeumchi, which the Donghak Peasant Army protested against the combined forces of Joseon and Japan in 1894, was also completed for the first time. The historical record, which was recorded by Park Joo-dae (1836-1912) who studied abroad in a total of four books from the late Joseon Dynasty to the Japanese colonial period, depicts the wartime situation he heard from the Joseon government at the time. In the November 3, 1894, "When the enemy soldiers (Donghak Peasant Army) tried to cross the hill, they fired 40 or 50 times in unison, and the bodies of the enemy soldiers piled up and filled the mountain." Gong Jung-kwon, a senior researcher at Sungkyunkwan University, said, "It contains the social image of the upheaval of the time, including the eyes of a Confucian scholar who looked at the Donghak Peasant Revolt.“ The treasure "The Relics of Kim Jeong-hee's Family-Chokdokcho," which Chusa Kim Jung-hee (1786-1856) transcribed a letter from a Qing scholar, and the treasure "Artefacts related to Princess Myeongan," which Hyunjong's third daughter, Princess Myeongan (1667-1687) exchanged with the royal family, were also translated into Korean language. Jeong Je-gyu, an expert on tangible cultural properties at the Cultural Heritage Administration, said, "It is meaningful that the foundation for follow-up research on records that honestly contain the social aspects of the time has been laid.“ The Cultural Heritage Administration plans to release the original text and translation of 30 kinds of historical materials translated into Korea on the website of the National Heritage Portal next year.
