The professor Suk-chan Lee acquired a master's degree in Biology at Sungkyunkwan University, and he has been a professor in College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering since 1995. - Prof. Han-min Woo, Suggest a fuel production strategy to CO₂ Prof. Han-min Woo in Department of Food Science and Biotechnology suggested a microbial fusion technology strategy to produce chemical compounds and fuels in sunlight and carbon dioxide utilizing microorganism-enabled technology. The microbial development strategy proposed by Professor Woo includes the biological technology that fuses development of photosynthetic microorganisms, using genetic engineering technology, and electrochemistry-based artificial photosynthesis technology. - ‘생동감’ was elected as 31st student council of College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering There was the 31st election for student council of College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering for three days from November 15th to 17th, 2016. As a result, Gyujin-Jang who started his undergraduate in Department of Bio-Mechatronic Engineering in 14' was elected as the student council president, and Chaeyoung-Lee who started her undergraduate in Department of Genetic Engineering in '15 was elected as the student council vice-president. - SKKU Reached The Top Level in Korea for Main Research Businesses in 2016 SKKU has been recognized as a university which received the largest research fund in 2016. 10 research centers in SKKU have been selected for the mid-large size research project from the first half of 2016, with financial support of around ₩3800 million won. 107 researchers of SKKU were selected for RF (Research Fellow) Business which is designed to cultivate researchers of the next generation, by providing funds of ₩50 million won to each doctorate researcher. Also, SKKU placed No.1 in the second half of 2016 for the Korea Basic Science Support Business (Foreign Researcher Sector) out of 17 nominated researchers. Furthermore, not only did SKKU show its outstanding results in the 2016 Global Ph.D. Fellowship, where 30 researchers were selected and placed No.1 in private universities in Korea; but also, ranked at No.1 in the nation for ‘Creative Convergence Research Business for Undergraduate Students’ with 14 selected students. The Vice-President of SKKU, Ji Beom YOO said “SKKU’s outstanding performance is the result of cooperation from all members in our university.This index shows that SKKU is stepping forward toward its VISION 2020 with aims of becoming a world top 50 in research ability. - College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering held 2016 Sungkyun Bio-Tech Jamboree The seventh seminar of Biotechnology, The Sungkyun Biotech Jamboree 2016 was held on November 10th, 2016 at Samsung library auditorium B1. Prof. Ki-moon Park, Dean of College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, opened the first engagement and introduced details of the event. With the new Jamboree topic, "Beauty innovation: search for a better biotechnical innovation in beauty", 6 different teams presented their own unique topics.
