IBT4014 Cancer therapy 3 6 Major Bachelor/Master 1-4 Integrative Biotechnology - No
It has been reported that the leading cause of death for Korean in 2019 is cancer related death. So far, many cancer therapy has been developed, however, it can affect the fast-proliferating normal cells, thereby inducing harmful side-effect, or cancer may acquire the resistance for anti-cancer drugs by altering their genetic, transcriptional, epigenetical, metabolic programs as well as via interactions with microenvironment or neighboring cell. Therefore, it is continuously required to develop new anti-cancer therapy. This lecture reviews current cancer therapy, drug-resistance strategies induced by cancer-intrinsic or –extrinsic mechanisms, and introduce and discuss the new developmental strategies for cancer therapy.

In particular, the latest research trends related to treatment, which are published in papers, etc., are delivered.
IBT4021 Stem cells and developmental biology 3 6 Major Bachelor/Master 1-2 Integrative Biotechnology - No
Developmental biology aims to understand how an organism develops—how a single cell becomes an organized grouping of cells that is then programmed at specific times to become specialized for certain tasks. Stem cells are special multipotent cells that are able to develop into many different cell types. This can range from muscle cells to brain cells. In some cases, they can also fix damaged tissues. This course covers several aspects of developmental program and stem cell regulation at cellular and molecular levels. Students are required to review and discuss papers on the special topics related to developmental biology.
