Professor Dong-yeop, Lee, Department of Chemical Engineering published International Research Paper on Cell Culture Process Analysis in Collaboration with GC Green Cross
Professor Lee Dong-yeop, a professor of chemical engineering and polymer engineering, has published a research paper analyzing the cell culture process using the digital virtual cell model in collaboration with GC Green Cross.
'In silico modeling' refers to a technology that uses virtual cells with the same genomic information as the actual cells to obtain or predict the same results as the actual experiment. This is the first time that this technology has been applied to animal cell culture processes for the production of pharmaceuticals in Korea.
The researchers used digital virtual cells to analyze the cell's change with physical variables such as gas in the culture process. As a result, the cells were found to fight oxidative stress by increasing amino acid metabolism to maintain homeostasis.
Professor Lee said, “We are conducting research on the implementation of“ Digital Twin ”technology that perfectly reproduces the cultivation process in digital by adding AI technology that can be learned based on this research.”
Yoo Hyun-ah, director of the GC Green Cross Research Institute, said, “This digital-based research will be a foundation for improving cell understanding and improving the production process.” We will push forward the development of a global level process by applying this technology. ”
