| This course aims to enhance the overall understanding of the classics of East Asia and related literature. To do this, students will develop the basic understanding of literature, history and philosophy of this area. Through this, they will start to build up the understanding- learning oriental studies with oriental classics of literature and basic elements(phonology, dictionary, bibliography, proofreading, etc.), introducing philological method of study, observing the life-sized classic literature books, studying the process of major texts’ formation focusing primarily on the Chinese classics and university/particularity of Korean, Japan, and Vietnamese cultures and utilizing/classifying the literature and so on. After this, students discuss the role of the classics of East Asia in 21C, and value of this field.
