This course aims to examine the nationally operated system of art management in France. The course deal with the historical and economic aspect of art policy, and the general organizational patterns of art administration.

In this course, students are required to read one representative play in French theatre history from the Medieval ages to the Contemporary period. The course also examines a variety of critical issues surrounding theatrical experiences and features of the play's directors. The stage production materials such as photos, video clips, CD and DVD will be used for the better understanding of the play.

The students will analyze the performing arts like the Greek tragedy, the French tragedy, the lyric tragedy, the comedy-ballet, the opera and the musical comedy par the stage production materials such as video clips, CD and DVD. The students will also analyze how the subject drawn from the myth and the history evolve according to the times and how one must translate works of the performing arts.

This course deal with popular culture as its object of study and it entails examination of analytical theories of approaching to popular culture and analyses of practice. We pay particular attention to the critical theories that deal with the issues around changes of meanings of culture, social, political and educational functions and mechanism of signification system through analyses of some empirical phenomena.

This course is an introdution to Film Critic. We will study the methodology of famous films critics from Les Cahiers du Cinema to Positif and other well known revues of cinema. We will follow the influence from famous art critics such as Diderot and from visual semioticians from Roland Barthes to Christian Metz.

This course aims to deepen the understanding of French culture by analyzing films that have a distinctly French character among the diversity of French culture. France is the birthplace of cinema and has led the world's cinematic history by proposing new styles of cinema over time, such as 'poetic realism', 'nouvelle vague', and 'nouvelle immagine'. This course will begin with the history of French cinema and examine the distinctive aesthetics of French cinema.

This course deals with the basic concepts and applications of computational linguistics. In this course the participants are given chances to learn the concepts and theories of morphological analysis, structural analysis, and semantic analysis for Korean and English. After learning the basic concepts of language analysis, it deals with concepts such as wordnet and ontology, and treats application areas such as machine translation and text mining. In order to take participate in this class, it is recommended, but not necessary, to take liberal arts classes such as introduction to linguistics. Also, no prior knowledge of computer programming is required.
